I quite like the WP scoring, we can basically copy the scoring from them and ETF2L for a league. Shorty - any advice for scoring on a ladder?another 2p (crap spending all my money) Wireplays system is complicated and is broken, i quite like rewarding all teams not just wining teams, but bonus points for achieving something, maybe 1 extra point for every 3 caps per game so if you lose 9-3 you still get a point (that may stop a team chucking in the towl when 9-2 down) Wireplays system as it stands rewards a big gulf in score only if both teams score a cap, or rewards a bigger score for keeping a clean sheet a 1-0, 1-0 win scores a maximum 6 points a 9-0, 9-0 win scores a maximum 6 points, the good teams in the higher divisions noticed this early and went for a quick cap then turtled it since 1-0, 1-0 scores 6 points and a 9-1, 9-1 only scores 5.7 points giving the clan no incentive to really push for a big win and risk losing a cap

Ranking then, not scoring. Who can you challenge? What maps do you need to play on? If you play two maps per game, how is the overall winner chosen in the event of one win each? Any limit on which maps can be played (e.g. can't choose the same map more than 2 times in 4)? The last one is to stop one team getting particularly good at one map and always playing it in every game. I quote myself Scoring To overtake a team in the ladder you need to beat them on the first map and at least draw on the second map (or vice versa). You can only challenge a team up to 2 places above you A challenge can not be refused by a clan unless they have a ladder match scheduled for that week (time and date needs to be mutually agreed, all clans must post their available days and times for matches at start of season) You must play at least 1 game per week, but there is no limit to the number of games you can play. end of quote Regarding maps if teams draw 1 win each or 2 maps drawn the status quo is maintained, positions in the ladder can only change if a clan is beaten, hense a playoff at the end of the season between the 2 top teams, as the team at the top is defending their position all season and 1 loss all season can see them drop to second. But this is just my initial thoughts, but i'd let each clan pick 1 map from the pool each, but make them play everymap at least once as their pick over the season. I'd also switch stopwatch on so dustbowl/gravelpit/ and goldrush can not be drawn

How about an elo system and you can't challenge a team with 100 or so points more/less than your team?

If you win, you gain points, if you lose you lose points. The ammount of points you win/lose is determined by your opponent's rating.

If you win, you gain points, if you lose you lose points. The ammount of points you win/lose is determined by your opponent's rating. I looked up Elo on Wakapedia and it looks quite complicated Although a simplified version could be used. how do we decide how many you win lose? 10% for a win, 0% for loss (so everyones rating grows)? e.g. We give clans a score out of 1500 (or ask them to rate themselves) Clan A 1500 Clan B 1450 Clan C 1400 Clan D 1350 Clan E 1300 Clan F 1250 Clan G 1200 Clan H 1150 Clan I 1100 Clan J 1050 Clan K 1000 Clan K can challenge Clan I, but not Clan H (as H is 150 points ahead) If clan K wins they recieve 10% of Clan I's score 110 points giving them a new rating of 1110, moving them up the league.... But if Clan I win they should get rewarded by not having to face a clan lower than them untill they have challegend a clan placed higher than them? If we gave the high placed clan points then clans at the bottom would have noone to play (the Elo system seems to work like the High placed clan is expected to win so would gain nothing from a win). We need to find someway of encouarging clans to play lower placed clans, or they will only want to play stronger clans so they can go up the ladder

The formula should be in the Wikipedia article and if it isn't there's a calculator here. Also, AFAIK eveyone starts with a rating of 1600. "We need to find someway of encouarging clans to play lower placed clans, or they will only want to play stronger clans so they can go up the ladder" I think having a chance of winning should be enough encouragement. EDIT: We'd probably need to add a way of rewarding if they win 10-0 more than if they win 2-1

People will be playing lower ranked clans - when they get challenged.

We can prob use point difference to sepearte clans, if level at end of season
as this system awards the same not matter how big the victory, or we could look at a bonus system i suppose similar to rugby (score several tries get bonus points)
like if they win by 4 clear points (5-1 etc) they get 10 bonus points on the system

every teams starts with a score of 1000.
for winning a clan in the range of 50 points (950-1050) they gain 25 points, teh loosing clan gets -25 the winning +25, if a team with 1000 points challenges a team with 1051-1100 and they win theyget 30 points 1101-1150 35 and so on, means higher clans loose more points if tehy losse against lower ones. ^^

I like the idea of more points for beating a more highly-placed clan.
What do you get for beating a clan ranked lower? Do you just keep the same number of points? Can you only challenge a clank with a higher rank than you?

Will there be decay in the ladder? If you don't play for a while, your skill level is most likely going to drop.
