Long story short, I think it's time we took it off the server. Discuss.
Long story long (or: My Reasons), I find it's getting a bit old for me. As hilarious as it was to start with, it's just another fight to be had at the end of the round now.
It's only really funny to see half a dozen unsuspecting newcomers go up in gibs, and that does two things. Firstly, it pisses off and/or confuses a lot of people. Sure some people laugh along with it, but I've seen a lot more "wtf" than "lol" in the chat. I have seen people quit because of it. And because they're not expecting it, they're just sitting ducks for us half the time. Secondly, it ruins my kdr to get six teamkills at a time >_>
It mostly benefits soldiers, who can critrawket their whole team at once. Demos as well of course, but to a lesser extent (unless it's a real steamroll and I get to put 6 stickies on the point while my 8 teammates cap it for me).
So really, who usually gets enjoyment out of it? Those of us FT who play soldier all the time. And not many other people.
It also kinda takes some of the camaraderie out of the game, in my opinion. You can have a great round with a great team and you stand shoulder to shoulder against all odds... before some smug bastard nukes the point at the end and everyone else beats each other to death. That'd make a crap awesome crap war movie.
That's just my preemptive argument. It's about all I can say, since the only convincing point I've had to counter is essetially "I think it's fun". And yes it is, occasioanally, for a few of us.

i'd switch it off, for following reasons Our server runs 20 min maps - normally enough for 1-2 rounds, we have lots of people disconnect at the end of rounds and on map changes. They don't read the text or hang around it is WTF Team kill fuck this disconnect. And they never come back.

I'd kind of miss it but it wouldn't be the end of the world.... it's odd when i'm on other servers and trying to pwn my own team and nothing happens, getting rid of it may drum that out of me.

My ego is too big to not think that's about me (even if its not solely aimed at me ), well i like playing soldier, after having nearly 170 hours in scout i need a class to have fun with, and soldier is just that i mean come on airshots woo.. ! It also kinda takes some of the camaraderie out of the game, in my opinion. You can have a great round with a great team and you stand shoulder to shoulder against all odds... before some smug bastard nukes the point at the end and everyone else beats each other to death. That'd make a crap awesome crap war movie. Its more of a mexican stand off, with usually one guy who draws the short straw first wich i usually end up being in the first round after i get fusilladed by a medic. i'd switch it off, for following reasons Our server runs 20 min maps - normally enough for 1-2 rounds, we have lots of people disconnect at the end of rounds and on map changes. They don't read the text or hang around it is WTF Team kill fuck this disconnect. And they never come back. The ones that leave are the ones that would rage quit when losing badly too. If they are too blind to read that at the end of the round FF switches on and then complain about it, i'd say good riddance. Its pretty clear FF isnt on during a round, with all the spam... I think its fun, but thats just my opinion

I totally agree with Immortal, it ruins my KpD stats when i get killed by pink at the round end every time (which pissed me off most yesterday).
According to that I think we really should get rid of it. Keep the crits maybe, but stop Teamkilling.
And btw, it really takes the comradery off the game when a laming soldier shoots his teammates (especially medics) that helped him win.

Thats the thing, even Alu charges up his uber for preparation of FF when he was healing me and then either stabs or shoots me, hell even Ren tried that yesterday when i had clearly no intention of blasting him to kingdom come ! Personally i think you should just shorten the time left to run around after a round has ended then if you are going to turn off FF, so you can get back into the action.

If people are either unable to read that friendly fire has been turned on, or care so much about meaningless numbers on the scoreboard then good, I hope they leave.

If people are either unable to read that friendly fire has been turned on, or care so much about meaningless numbers on the scoreboard then good, I hope they leave. We have a server to populate, and thanks to some unfortunate cock ups in our past handling of the server we don't have a regular crowd like we once did. Which means we need to rely on passing trade from people who may or may not like friendly fire. Besides, that's not a reason to keep ff, you're just being argumentative. Pink, yes I was thinking of you as it happens, but it applies equally to andy and mike. I also wasn't ripping you for your choice of class, I'd play soldier more often if I didn't keep losing track of how many rockets I have loaded. Or if I could fire a shotgun worth shit. I was just pointing out that you've got it easy compared to the lighter classes without an insta-rape splash crit. I totally agree that we should cut the round end time as well. Give people a few seconds to clean up those noobs who didn't throw themselves onto the point, then move on to the next round.

Pink, yes I was thinking of you as it happens, but it applies equally to andy and mike. I also wasn't ripping you for your choice of class If you only feel it's bad because of explosives, it's simple enough to make it melee only. However it's even simpler to make it so it's just crits at the end. I totally agree that we should cut the round end time as well. Give people a few seconds to clean up those noobs who didn't throw themselves onto the point, then move on to the next round. That can be changed with the server.cfg iirc I'd play soldier more often if I didn't keep losing track of how many rockets I have loaded Minimal minimal HUD

If players didn't just leave, your problem of having no regulars to increase your elo would be solved btw Humiliation is now 5 seconds.
