your voice has have you compared them? we used to have a vent from Pendaz, for what i remember they're pretty much the same

CELP 5.1Kbit and iirc, Ventrilo offered better quality with similar bandwidth usage (although this was ages ago) and Mumble is supposed to be even better than Vent is.
edit: inb4 "of course you're going to get crap quality lol" I'm using the 5.1Kbit codec because I don't want teamspeak doubling my ping

Lulz. I'm sure there's an appropriate compromise somewhere in between max quality and CELP 5.1. Anyway, I use 25.9 the whole way, it sounds good and my ping is always fine unless something else is messing with me. Just knock it up a couple of notches.

I tried out mumble with a german clan already, it's got a pretty good quality, but the menues and options are much more complicated, and it doesnt work properly with a hotkey on the mouse.
but i think the servers are much cheaper and TS and vent are overrated.
